About Me - Angie

I am an experienced seamstress with 40+ years sewing in domestic and industrial settings. I also knit & crochet, so you may find some cute additions for teddy bears in our shop.


I am highly skilled in hand-sewing and fine embroidery and have always been passionate about textile conservation and restoration throughout history. The intricate techniques they used and the level of detail is simply amazing. I own my own small collection of Teddy Bears including Steiff and Merrythought.

Davey Bears & Sustainability

Sustainability in business and using natural products is really important to me.
So what do we actually do to try and make a difference??? What do we do or use:

  • mostly plant based cleaning, plus age old natural products, which are also vegan friendly which helps to reduce the risk of allergic reactions for those with sensitive skin
  • re-use boxes where possible - sorry if they look a little worn occasionally!
  • kraft paper tapes used to secure our boxes are acid-free, 100% vegan friendly & 100% recyclable so there is no need to remove them from the box when you recycle it
  • we use tissue paper to package your teddy bear safely and let them breathe
  • we DO NOT use bubble wrap UNLESS it's come from elsewhere, then it's re-used
  • our air filled pockets are made from 100% recycled content and are themselves 100% recyclable which makes them a perfect circular packaging element

Ethos & Fabrics

The ethos of the Company is to treat every Patient to Davey Bears as a VIP and to care for them as if they were our own. They even have their own beds which helps prevent cross contamination. We will go above and beyond to help wherever we can, do as little or as much as YOU want and strive to provide the best customer experience possible. We are always at the end of the phone to personally answer your questions.

We will discuss extensively with the owner and take into consideration their wishes, whilst offering guidance as to what is possible. We consider the age, maker and history of the Bear in order to execute the best possible clean, repair or sympathetic restoration so that your teddy bear keeps their original character and charm intact.
We don’t want to make a vintage bear look ‘new’.

Older teddy bears in our shop have been carefully restored using traditional methods, ready to adopt!

We do not repair sheepskin/real fur, or use real fur (sheepskin, mink etc) in any of our Bears.
