PLEASE be careful who you give your cherished Teddy Bears and Soft Toys to for repair. There are a rising number of 'have a go' restorers out there causing distress to children and families with terrible repair attempts and experienced restorers are having to re-do bears, and literally picking up the pieces in some cases!
The above photo was of a treasured toy given in good faith to a person who reassured the Client that they could restore him, and that it would be no problem at all.
They were having major trouble getting updates and something didn't feel right, so they asked for their toy back.
It took a whole 2 YEARS for their toy to be returned to them and this bag of pieces was what they got, I could have cried for them. Their little boy was absolutely devastated, as you can imagine. I helped them, talking through the different options available and there was finally a happy outcome for his favourite toy, thanks to his Dads perseverance and encouragement from us.
If it's cheap AVOID, if the deal appears too good to be true - it usually IS.
Most GOOD restorers have a waiting list of typically 3-6 months, sometimes more. Speak to them directly by phone and ask to see lots of before and after shots of their work either in person, by email, on their website or Facebook business page.
Also - Read their reviews and ask loads of questions... it shouldn't be a problem for an experienced restorer and we don't mind answering them, in fact we love to have a conversation about Teddies/Toys.
We love your Teddy Bears as much as you do and treat them like our own whilst they are in our care 🥰
