Meet George! The Davey Bears Original Bear

Meet George! The Davey Bears Original Bear

This little man has been with us for nearly sixty years - say hello to George!

Coming into the family when Ange was very young, he was originally named Barnaby until he was passed down to Paige in the late 90’s, and his new name was given to him (“He just looks like a George!” - Paige).

George has been on almost as many travels as Ange and Paige, from tagging along on late night hospital visits and being the best nurse, to travelling all the way to Gran Canaria and Tunisia for some well-deserved breaks in the sun!

He has been both well loved and well taken care of. After nearly six decades of cuddles and around-the-world commutes the signs of aging were starting to show on his face… until Ange worked her Davey Bears magic! After a relaxing Cornish Spa experience and a little cosmetic work around his nose and mouth (“A tasteful nose job!” - George), all of Ange’s years of sewing and restoration experience came together to make sure George was preserved for more years of family antics and looking his very best again.

Here at Davey Bears we focus on preservation and restoration, making sure each and every bear that passes through our workshop can be refreshed and renewed in a way that respects their history and individuality. While George may never look ‘brand new’ again, that was never what we wanted! He has as much of a past as any of us, and his greyed fur and lightly lopsided face shows his history - and his cheekiness! - perfectly.

George currently sits in his little spot overlooking the Davey Bears desk, watching over every beloved bear and soft toy who comes in for the restorative experience that has helped keep George looking and feeling his very best. To anyone who may be nervous about parting with your fluffy friends when they travel to us, fret not! We are not the only ones looking out for them: the mighty George is too!
